I went to a Thai club for the first time last weekend. In typical asian style where everything similar is grouped together, there is a whole street (blocked from traffic) lined with dance clubs and bars called RCA. Most of the places seem to be half inside, half outside, with sofas on the street. There are many foreigners here. The curious thing is that there is no “dance floor” because most people don’t dance. Instead, there are many carts in rows on the floor that are personal bars. My friend explained that usually a liquor company puts down half the cost of opening the bar so that most of the clubs only serve that one kind of liquor. People buy a whole bottle of liquor for all their friends with mixers, limes and glasses and everyone makes their own drinks. The most amazing thing is that the bathroom was HUGE. There was a lounge area with plush sofas and quite a few girls were sleeping on them. There are only two djs that play hip hop and so they are really popular. Incredible. They were alright, but they played a few songs more than once, major no! Dj deejay doesn’t seem to shabby all of a sudden.
